Compare Prices on The Damned

This unbelievable if ultimately frustrating production fuses two motifs familiar from earlier Visconti works: the historical spectacular (Senso, The Leopard) and the family saga (La Terra trema, Rocco and His Brothers) . But there almost any similarity with the director’s early films ceases altogether. The Damned is history as Walpurgisnacht, focusing upon the peripeties of a German family of industrialists-evidently modeled upon the Krupps–whose secret repository of vices gives recent meaning to the stock phrase “skeleton in the closet”. On the eve of the Reichstag fire, the Von Essenbecks, owners of an considerable steel factory with finish aged ties to the military, regain to celebrate the birthday of the family patriarch, Joachim (Albrecht Schoenhals) .

The heir to the dynasty is the glowing, amoral Martin (Helmut Berger), the only child of Joachim’s son who has died in World War I and the aesthetic, unscrupulous Baroness Sophie Von Essenbeck (Ingrid Thulin) . Sophie is enamored of the ambitious Friedrich Bruckmann (Dirk Bogarde), and plans to employ her son as a pawn to promote Friedrich’s rise to power as head of the family business. Yet Sophie, in spite of her passionate treasure for Friedrich, is pathologically attached to Martin, who in turn has a psychopathic attraction to miniature girls. To guarantee the Nazis’ control of the steel works, Friedrich conspires with the diabolical SS officer Aschenbach (Helmut Griem) in the killing of mature Joachim, and later in the assassination of Martin’s uncle Konstantin (Rene Koldehoff) during a homosexual orgy of SA followers on the Night of the Long Knives. But Friedrich’s petty Machiavellian schemes to come his beget personal fortunes are readily outmatched by the marvelous cunning and ruthlessness of the Mephistophelean Nazis with whom he has sealed his Faustian pact.

It would be an understatement to report The Damned as oppressive. One of the standard conventions of older Italian films about fascism had been to pit bestial Nazis against numerically corrupt but morally pleasurable adversaries-the prototype is Roberto Rossellini’s Initiate City. However, in this movie the forces of cross seem invincible. The film concludes-after Friedrich and Sophie have been forced to commit suicide following their nuptials-with images of a blast furnace: history being transformed into an inferno by the power of the total station.

Visconti further reinforces the pervasive mood of suffocation, an asphyxia nearly as great physical as apt and political, with a pleasing utilize of color mise en scène, emphasizing brown, shadowy, and red shades, brilliantly realized by his directors of photography, Pasqualino De Santis and Armando Nannuzzi. Ever since shooting Senso, the director had shown a sensitivity to the expressive possibilities of color, but here he really outdid himself, without ever falling into the pictorialism that mars The Leopard as well as Death in Venice, and even more Ludwig. (Anyone who writes a book on the history of color cinematography one day will have to devote an entire chapter to Visconti.)

In his early films, Visconti seemed as worthy rooted in the 19th century as D.W. Griffith, Charlie Chaplin, or John Ford, a committed leftist who nevertheless owed as worthy to the humanistic realism of Alessandro Manzoni as to the economic and political doctrines of Karl Marx. But his career underwent a mutation in the1960s, signs of which are more evident in the febrile Sandra (1965), with its incestuous brother-sister relationship, than in the pallid, pious adaptation of Albert Camus’ The Stranger (1967) . The unique, apocalyptically charged title of The Damned is La Caduti degli dei or The Descend of the Gods, an allusion to the final opera in The Ring of the Nibelung, bringing in both Richard Wagner-one of the spiritual godfathers of Nazism-as well as Wagner’s vision of a fiery consummation of human history in the conflagration of Valhalla.

Yet Visconti’s world ends in The Damned neither with a bang nor a whimper, but a fascist travesty of the heritage of European civilization, from art of feeble times down to the German cinema of the 1920s and 1930s. In this regard, the movie adopts the overtly deconstructive stance of postmodernism towards the past by showing how once viable cultural traditions can be corrupted and thus irretrievably lost. More of an allegory out of Sigmund Freud or Wilhelm Reich than a historical characterize, The Damned does not at all grasp up where The Leopard stopped, but anticipates in both dramatic strategy and style Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange, which in a memorable sequence juxtaposes the choral finale of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony-already made grotesque by being performed on a synthesizer-with images of Adolf Hitler strutting before his rapt admirers extracted from Leni Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will.

In my absorb view, Visconti was one of the tremendous directors in the history of the cinema, but The Damned is an agonistic work rather than an accomplished one, the characterize of an artist’s struggle with his gain personal demons. Quiet, The Damned is far more impressive than any of Bernardo Bertolucci’s psychosexual exercises in interpreting history-not to mention a rebuke to such Fellini psychedelic schlock as Julietta of the Spirits or Satyricon–and Visconti got invaluable wait on from his cast, especially Ingrid Thulin and Dirk Bogarde, although some viewers may have a jam with Helmut Berger as the epicene Martin. Warner Home Video asks quite a stiff notice for this tape, which does not seem to me wholly justified. The represent quality is adequate in copies I have seen, but this version is the R rated one, missing some footage deleted to change the unusual X-the IMDb gives the Italian running time as 155 minutes– and the aspect ratio is not 1.85 letterbox as it should be, but chubby mask television.

Directed by Luchino Visconti in 1969 (during a period of exceptional fecundity of controversial and political films) this film stars Dirk Bogard, Ingrid Thulin and Helmut Berger. This trio has an incredible energy which allows for noteworthy and shining tableaus throughout the film. But also these actors become an ingenious gaze in themselves of the already corrupted middle and upper class German life; They are mere refuse from Germany’s now dying Weimar Republic.

The yarn begins in the first year of Hitler’s unique Germany, and extends through mid 1934, peaking at Hitler’s betrayal and massacre of his bear idealistic and real SA troops headed by Ernst Rhome, a man he had loved.

The indispensable myopia and self-aggrandizing nature of these ruthless Nazi military capitalists (the trio and their cohorts), blends well with their all pervasive lack of splendid morality. This upper crust elite, abetted by the already effective propaganda machine stale by the Nazi party, paints a radiant portrait of Germany’s first year adjustment and committment to the fascist space.

Hauntingly revealing of the nature of creature human’s ability to not know what s/he knows. Not unlike today and the average person’s minimal take of honest what the military industrial complex is doing within this Country as well as outside this Country.

Visconti’s sets are often authentic structures or painstakingly exaggerated replications. To increase the drama and sheer size of these sets, some were built with walls slanting inward to agument their ample size. The costumes are detailed, sparkling and define enough to add to the already dramatic tale and fanciful sets.

This film is worthwhile viewing if for no other reason than to gawk the young Helmut Berger in his debut as a character of gross complexity, scandalous and deviousness. As a young Nazi, blond and elegant, he easily reflects the fresh Germany he is supposed to picture. Visconti’s “The Damned” is a film that is as contemporary with human lesson and meaning today as it would have been had it actually been made in Germany in 1933 and 1934.

“I Inspect” the television series was a secret agent adventure that aired from 1965 to 1968. It teamed Robert Culp as international tennis player Kelly Robinson, and Bill Cosby as his trainer Alexander Scott. In reality, both were agents for the Pentagon and, while incognito as `tennis bums’, they busied themselves tracking villains and spies.

The series broke unusual ground as the first American television drama to feature an African-American actor (Cosby) in a lead role. Cosby’s Scotty played a straight-laced Rhodes scholar fluent in several languages, although he was really the brains slow the duo. Culp was the athlete and playboy who lived by the seat-of-his-pants.

I remember the point to particularly for its exotic international locations a la James Bond, which was another first in American television. The joking banter and chemistry between Culp and Cosby was another highlight of the series, often in counterpoint to some serious subjects.

28. One Thousand Heavenly — Kelly helps a friend score a cache of gold, a mission complicated by the presence of the friend’s fiancé — Kelly’s mature girlfriend.

Great point to. Highly recommended.

The 82 hour-long episodes (all in color) of the view adventure series “I Peruse” ran from 1965-1968 on NBC.

All 28 episodes from season one are on this DVD, there was no pilot episode.

It was a salubrious watch saga with a gorgeous amount of the same “tongue-in-cheek” self-parody found in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” series and the well-liked James Bond movie franchise. But don’t interrogate the same level of gadgetry and gimmicks; “I Witness” is worthy more about the witty banter between its pair of spies, Kelly Robinson (Robert Culp) and Alexander Scott (Bill Cosby) . Their mask as they recede the world on assorted missions is tennis, Kelly is a tennis pro and Scotty is his trainer. They work for an unnamed U.S. espionage agency.

The smart and witty tone of the explain obviously appealed to its fans as reflected by its three year broadcast rush and subsequent syndication. Considerable of the credit for this goes to Sheldon Leonard who incorporated the more subtle comedy elements he had experimented with when producing “Gain Room for Daddy”, “The Andy Griffith Prove”, and “The Dick Van Dyke Explain”.

Cosby was hardly an unknown at the time of the series premiere. He was a wildly favorite stand-up laughable who had appeared many times on television variety shows and sold millions of report albums featuring his semi-autobiographical comedy routines. But his Alexander Scott character is generally a pleasing serious guy (he does occasionally sneak in some of his comedy routines) and Cosby’s portrayal is quite believable. Prior to this no comedian (and certainly no shadowy comedian) had stared in an action reveal.

Culp is not so mighty the dashing James Bond style hero as a contemporary version of the less macho Bret Maverick type. He is not above pleading ignorance or confusion in a crisis. Fortunately the chemistry was suited between the two stars.

Then again, what do I know? I’m only a child.

I really liked this film. It was not a work of genius, but it was very challenging and didn’t bore. I happen to like Franco Nero (for those who don’t know him, if you like Bruce Willis’ films, you’ll probably savor this) . It’s got lots of action and counterplots. Also, it’s in English which helps a lot. It’s not a heavy weight, but very piquant nonetheless.

“Perche’ si uccide un magistrato” or “How to Slay a Consider” is

somewhat of an archeological experience, worthy like seeing Star

Wars or another 70’s movie, 30 years later. Yet, the changes

borne by society at immense during that time, and as shown in the

movie to the exhibit, are perhaps not as expansive as what some

Buy,Download, Or Stream How to Kill a Judge! Click Here

people might assume.

Intended commercially as a Eurofilm (Italy, Spain, Portugal,

etc.) at the time, but dubbed in English for international

release eventually, this work is somewhat of an acquired taste.

It will be appreciated by those wanting to survey some imagery of

the Sicilian country side, many cities that often appear very

similar to those found in countries of Roman influence. It also

is enthralling in its presentation of how public institutions

function and how public servants interact in that culture.

Another, perhaps more mundane and less glamorous aspect, is how

the movie suggests a closed-mindedness of the public at ample,

whose imaginations, opinion processes, rational building blocks

are dominated by the mass media’s output in terms of newspapers,

magazines, TV, and yes, even movies, such that, the human

subconscience is not as unbiased, independent, or free from

manipulation as most people would like to assume. At worst, with

a controlled, or tiny mass media, human minds follow in step

with Pavlov’s Dog, unless they behold out unusual facts, new

information, original sources, and balance facts out, to

independently originate correct opinions and assessments.

In this fable, a director’s movie turns Sicily upside down, as

it candidly spins a biographical memoir of a high ranking think,

who is immersed in the politics of the residence, with economic

interests and power struggles and lobbies to boot. The director

actually becomes section of his hold movie, as the town’s reality is

then changed and shaped from its repercussions on the

part-fictional yarn that the audience sees.

This movie will be appreciated by those eager on following

politics and how things sometimes are played out slow the

scens, or how jaded people they reflect they do, in some regions

such as Southern Italy, etc.

In the extras section of the DVD, Director Damiano Damiani explains

that the movie’s goal wasn’t clearly understood by all critics.

Perhaps the lack of humor in this work, had a lot to do with it,

as it’s stunning dry stuff.

One thing about Burst Angel is that it has a downward journey of tale progress. It started out titanic by presenting strong scenes of action and lickety-split introducing the cast of characters. In volume two, it slowed a bit but allowed itself to deepen your knowledge of all the main protagonists in the series. And in volume three, it does almost the same thing. I didn’t inquire of that in this volume. I wanted the main conflict to finally point to itself in one of the episodes, a kind of hint to the extinguish of the series, but that never happens. And if it did, the hint either wasn’t blatant or the waste of the series will be a disappointment. Besides that, I tranquil can’t give Burst Angel a unpleasant rating. It’s a solid series with superb animation.

In episodes nine and ten, the series finally moves to single episodes (in previous volumes, all the episodes are two parters) . These episodes are based around the fable of one of the four women on the team. The first is based on Sei, the second on Amy. Neither of these episode really progress the main set. In episodes eleven and twelve, the characters enter into a conflict between Osaka’s marvelous police force and terrorists. A fresh character is revealed in these episodes in the name Takane, a biker-chick who wields a serrated samurai sword. Whether or not she’s a permanent addition cannot be told, as the sub-plot presented in episodes eleven and twelve doesn’t ruin until volume four of the Burst Angel series. These episodes also seem to follow the trend of Americanized Japanese animation by giving characters from Osaka a southern accent (gaze my review of Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi at my profile) .

If you’ve already committed yourself to this series, I would strongly recommend that you sustain up with it. Though this volume is a bit slower than the others, it quiet has a lot to be seen, and I’d loathe for anyone to actually miss out on something that I perhaps missed. Plus, the lack of revelations in this volume promises mighty more revelations in the next, so don’t miss out on the episodes in between.

Avatar is exceptionally written, perhaps the best consuming series ever to air in America. It’s so splendid that acclaimed Director, M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN,(The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village, The Happening) called it, “The coolest mythology I’ve ever seen,” and attach his fill screenwriting on absorb to use the next six years producing/directing a BIG-SCREEN LIVE-ACTION TRILOGY of this narrative.

Adults may derive the occasional comical relief a bit cheesy, but will appreciate the character development, psychological depth, mythos, realistic martial arts, “special effects”, and the sterling insights into Asian philosophy, sociology, and mythology, and even politics. I’ve been studying Asian culture and philosophy and teaching in Asia for years and I’ve gained insights from this series because the writers have found ways to introduce and justify Asian understanding so simply that even kids can “gain it”. Ideas like chakras, Daoism, and Chinese philosophy of the balance and properties of the natural Elements are brought to life and illustrated in the characters lives, situations, and cultural settings. I bought this to sight my nephews (though I often contemplate it when they’re not here too) and I contemplate it’s awesome because as they grow up in an increasingly Asian world, I judge what they were exposed to in this reveal will get Asian culture (Chinese, Tibetan, Japanese, Indian, Korean) worthy more accessible and comprehensible to them than it was to me when I studied it.

Don’t the the animation fool you, this series is a narrative of exceptional crafting, on par with STAR WARS and LORD OF THE RINGS.

Mesmerizingly Moving and uniquely EDUCATIONAL! With or without kids, you’ll Cherish it!

I treasure this series. I like the fact that the movements are precise, I like the fact that each “runt bit” of information has a bigger role than what it seems. The consistancy is honest as awesome. I am a anime fan, an although this present has it’s similarities to one its completely different. But it’s not like some other american absorbing series’ either, that never has an raze, and almost each episode stands on its occupy. The myth line is quite different. It has it’s complexities of an anime, but the fun and jokes are absolutely western style. Well I hope this helps out the next customer fervent. Oh by the intention….they are going to obtain a live action movie… I hope it’s unprejudiced as awesome.

We have always had classical music playing in our home so when Kate was 6 months stale, we purchased Baby Mozart. At first I was a bit disappointed: I expected orchestra arrangements and better production values. But soon I realized, duh, it’s for kids, not adults. The simple musical arrangements and improper tech images are accurate on target for babies. Kate LOVES this video. As soon as the opening credits initiate, her hands and feet originate to dance and a ample smile appears. We point out the different images (”occupy”,”apple”,”bellow”….”shimmering whirling thingie”) to produce it a family interactive time. The educational component makes us feel a puny less guilty over TV having anything to do with the education/entertainment of our precious bundle of joy. It would be easy to score sucked into the “video babysitter” vortex (Kate is totally enthralled for 30, count ‘em, 30 minutes) but, like anything else, the video is immense when venerable in moderation. Kate’s now 10 1/2 months and unbiased as angry about watching Baby Mozart. We’ve added Baby Bach to her repertoire too.

Friends gave us the BABY MOZART video (made 1998) as a gift for our infant when he was 4 months ancient. He loved it then and he loves it now. It completely holds his attention for the 28 minutes or so it runs. Our runt guy has watched it dozens of times over the last two months. It takes Mozart’s music and presents it in very child-friendly renditions with simple visuals of toys and puppets. The pacing and length are exactly good.

We have played BABY MOZART about 3 times a week for the last 2 months and our petite guy enjoys it every time. He smiles and giggles at his well-liked parts. Beget it or not, the only time he loses interest is when the credits and ads reach on at the slay! We can almost guarantee ourselves almost a half hour of getting chores done around the house as the program runs. (Grasp it on DVD because you will eventually wear out the tape.)

Buy,Download, Or Stream Baby Einstein - Baby Mozart - Music Festival! Click Here

Based on the Mozart program, we soon bought BABY BACH (made 2000) and BABY BEETHOVEN (made 2002) on DVD. Assign your money. BABY BACH is a total bust. He lasts about 7 minutes at best. He never liked it. I don’t like it. Wearisome quiet shots of toy instruments impartial sitting there and gratuitous shots of kids lend nothing.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Baby Einstein - Baby Mozart - Music Festival! Click Here

BABY BEETHOVEN is a pretty program and our limited guy will sometimes sit through about 15 minutes of it but it pales in comparison to BABY MOZART. The Beethoven video includes even more pointless shots of children and lots of [pricey] toys and mobiles which it promotes at the kill.

The music on BEETHOVEN and BACH is certainly as proper as the Mozart video but for our baby and for us, the overall presentations unbiased don’t chop it.

BABY MOZART however is a astounding program and should be in almost every child’s video library. With Mozart, they did gain magic in a bottle. Too abominable they weren’t able to inform it with the later efforts.

The chronicle begins with an opening segment in which Pooh Beget hides a exhibit he has for Piglet. Then our friends secure together and grunt exiguous Roo about a past Christmas. This segment comes from the special “Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too,” featuring the characters from “The Fresh Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.” Pooh and his friends are getting ready for Christmas. They settle to obtain a Christmas list and near up with all sorts of gifts that they want to give each other. But when the list is lost to the wind, Pooh and Piglet resolve to dress up as Santa and a reindeer and do gifts.

Later, they remove a Fresh Year’s in which Rabbit wanted to disappear away because he was irritated Pooh’s eating honey, Tigger’s bouncing, Piglet’s being disturbed and Eeyore’s gloominess. So they all made resolutions to change and swapped personalities.

One reason this production is dapper is that it has Gopher in it — he really isn’t seen too worthy lately.

This movie features songs by Carly Simon (who also did the songs for the more novel “Piglet’s Mountainous Movie” and “Heffalump Movie”) as well as by the characters. She does a big job, as always. The best is “Auld Lang Syne” (with Pooh-specific lyrics mixed in.) This is huge, because you don’t usually gain to hear lyrics for this song these days, only the tune.

DVD special features include a “Covered in Snow” game, a “Unusual Year’s Eve” countdown and song selection with on-screen lyrics. These features aren’t anything overly tantalizing, but they are fairly nice. The “Covered in Snow” game is a bit flawed in that you’re supposed to resolve objects, but it lets you decide the same ones over and over and doesn’t progress the game any. Otherwise, apt game. You can also set the DVD in your DVD-ROM drive (if you have one) to register it.

This is an respectable christmas time fable for all lovers of winnie pooh and friends, young and veteran alike! Its a fable that can, and probably will be, watched again and again. There are two interactive games for younger children which should preserve them occupied for an hour or two. My children aren’t “fans” of winne pooh but have watched this over and over. satisfactory value for money!!

I went into Alex Gibney’s “Smartest Guys in the Room” having read Robert Bryce’s “Pipe Dreams” and Kurt Eichenwald’s “Conspiracy of Fools” thinking to myself: should be reliable, but no design the movie is going to advance discontinuance to telling the account like those two authors did.

Well, surprise, surprise: the movie is outstanding on its contain terms and all credit goes to Gibney. While the books focus on unraveling all of Andy Fastow’s ‘Special Purpose Entities’ like the Raptors, LJM, Chewco, etc., Gibney brilliantly focuses on showing us things that are simply better on film: audio recordings of Enron traders jacking the California energy system; a devastated Portland Gas line worker after his 401K has gone to seed; an downhearted Skilling getting grilled by a Senate panel while Sherron Watkins glowers at him from 10 feet away; some Enron HR flack urging its employees to set all their 401K money into company stock, etc.

And there are two astounding, spine-tingling moments if you know the Enron story:

- An audio recording of the well-known quarterly results analyst call where Skilling loses it and calls an analyst an a——. [The analyst only asked why the company couldn't accomplish a balance sheet.] Reading Eichenwald’s book, you know Skilling is clearly unhinged at this point. For many, this call was the turning point of the gigantic unraveling.

- A secret video recording from Merrill Lynch of Andy Fastow’s LJM2 pitch to a bunch of bankers. This is *mesmerizing* stuff. Fastow is front and center in the books, but remains a spooky, off-camera presence in the movie. However, this one allotment nails him. He’s perpetrating a major fraud with that spiel.

Most of all, the movie is a tribute to the work of reporters Bethany McLean and Peter Elkind, both of whom had the guts to ask at the beginning “How does Enron form money”? No one at the company could retort the demand and management’s response was to attempt to bully McLean and then, in turn, bully her editors. They didn’t bend. The anecdote ran. The rest is history. In business writing, this was journalism on the level of Woodward and Bernstein. All glory belongs to Ms. McLean and Mr. Elkind.

Two other gigantic moves by Alex Gibney:

- Getting Amanda Martin on film to talk about the tragedy of Cliff Baxter’s life and of Jeff Skilling’s career. What a intellectual filmmaker. The camera *loves* Amanda Martin. Far better for your film to have her squawk that yarn than have Ken Rice, Lou Pai or any other member of the Skilling inner circle.

- Getting Peter Coyote to relate. His is the perfect impart for this saga.

Narrated by worn actor, Peter Coyote, this DVD is disturbingly valid. It reveals the depths that people will sink at the expense of others, and it reveals how widespread it was.

First, Arthur Anderson Consulting signed off on “ticket to marketing” accounting. In other words, Enron could narrate their projected earnings as steady profits. They could “picture” profits of millions of dollars that they didn’t have. They paid bonuses and other excesses with these projections.

Next, Jeff Skilling was hired by Ken Lay to speed the operations of the company. Skilling was a man with new, or some would say, grandiose ideas. This is honest what Lay wanted–a man of vision.

Skilling soon instituted promotions and bonuses for analysts who produced more than the other guy. Creating a classic cuthroat environment, the producers were given phenomenal bonuses while their less successful counterparts were shown the door. These were all being given on projected earnings.

One rebel market analyst from Merrill Lynch would not give Enron a “strong prefer” rating. Skilling contacted Merrill Lynch who promptly fired the errant employee, and Enron gave Merrill Lynch a fifty million dollar contract.

Enter Andy Fastow another Enron executive in the mold of Jeff Skilling who managed to spot up dummy corporations which were paying Enron. Several prominent banks knew of the design and went along with it. (You may even have your money in one of them.)

Another Enron executive, named Pi was an executive cuthroat who knew his predilections and his limits. He left the company after making $250,000,000 and married his pregnant, stripper girlfriend.

Skilling, Fastow, and Lay kept attempting recent investments in energy and other ventures which flopped miserably. The DVD shows how they were beginning to lose their ability to deem of fresh ideas to fool the public and the investors who never saw an Enron balance sheet or earnings statement.

The most chilling fraction of this is the Enron analysts who were able to produce rolling black-outs through California. They invested in the stock of power companies before they called the power companies and asked them to shut down the power for hours at a time. This, in turn, created query, which increased the notice of the stock and their profits. The steady chill is you hear what is tantamount to their psychopathic laughter at the misery and hardship they helped beget throughout the place. In another instance, they actually began cheering when a forest fire shuts down a power plant. Their “profit cheering” with no regard for the misery of the people without power may compose the viewer want to fall these guys from a large building.

It gets even better–I mean, worse. Ken Lay said he didn’t know what was going on. Interviewees told Ken Lay what his analysts were doing. None were fired or disciplined. How did he not know? He, like other top executives, sold off almost all their shares in the company unbiased before the dreadful news hit. The well-liked worker who had his or her 401K tied up in Enron stock was not allowed to sell it as the company and its stock value collapsed. They lost everything. One approved power company worker who was interviewed said that his pension went from $340,000 to $1,200. This was painful to listen to.

One last thing, these “Enron entrepreneurs” fought tooth and nail to preserve California’s energy laws deregulated. Everything has its positives and negatives. If free market enterprise is unchecked it does lead to invention and creativity. It also leads to greed and excesses.

Maybe a shrimp regulation is not such a abominable thing.

Update: Lay and Skilling have been found guilty. Their lawyer fees, expensive. The verdict, priceless!
