is this true about some horses?
i have a bay horse and while i was riding today he acted like he was about to kick a leopard appaloosa. but he didn’t. but he didn’t try to kick at any other horses. some one told me that some horses just dont like white horses is that true?
Its true. Some horses just don’t "look" right to others. I’ve known some particular about ponies, greys, appaloosas, paints, you name it.
I have a paint mare I train who scared the living bejesus out of another horse at her new barn. I have another mare who has suddenly decided she doesn’t like dark bay geldings. Horses are funny creatures that way.

Some horses are afraid of them too. I suppose if he didn’t grow up with them he could dislike them, or if as a foal there was a really mean grey mare or something in his pasture.

If your horse isn’t used to white horses then it could be possible he’s affraid of them. I know dozens of horses that get completely freaked out when they see a pony or a draft horse because they are not used to seeing horses like that. I guess it’s possible for a horse to be affraid of a white horse but it’s also possible your horse was just being bossy to that horse because he’s weaker or lower on the todem pole.

my first horse was a grade gelding that hated paints. we could never ever ever turn him out with a paint or he’d chase the paint with ferocity ive never seen in him before. so yes, i can believe that your horse could hate a white horse…

I suppose it could be possible,if you think about it,horses are instinct animals,so they base most of their actions off instinct, and a white horse would attract a predator,so they wouldnt want white horses near them.

I have never heard that, its funny to think of that though. I don’t think color really matters. He probably just didn’t like that horse.

its possible. remember that horses dont see colors like we do. so who knows.white horses could look intimidating to other horses and since horses are always looking out for danger he was just keeping himself "safe". in not saying this is true but its possible. was it maybe a gender issue?

First things first, let your horse formally meet the appy. Once they learn about each other, it will probably kill of the animosity.
See, in the wild, horses are herd animals. They all have colors (bay chestnut roan etc) that are, at least, common, and a bit similar. So, when a predator comes up, it becomes harder for the predator to distinguish any one animal for another… but a horse that sticks out, like a white horse, is easy to see for the predator, and it also makes distinguishing other animals around it easier. Therefore, herd horses don’t like to see unusually colored horses hanging around them, in their minds, it threatens their safety.

Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s true.
A friend used to agist her horse at our other friend’s place with my horse there. He’s gray. He was herded around the paddock ALL DAY. He lost so much weight because of this. My friend only moved him there because her horse was doing the same thing to her other gray all the time and she couldn’t separate them until she finally got the money to split the paddock. Since he’s been gone just under a month now, my horse has put on so much weight.

I dopnt know thats hard to say there was a bay horse at old barn who loved grey horses, and there was one who was afraid of them. It also depends on the horse maybe your horse just dosent like that horse.
